GWS coach Adam Kingsley admits Lachie Whitfield’s short-term availability is unclear after missing Sunday’s win over Brisbane with a hamstring injury.
Whitfield was a late withdrawal for the Giants victory, with Kingsley revealing he’d suffered the hamstring issue at training on Friday.
“Whitfield hurt his hamstring pretty innocuously in the warm-up on Friday,” Kingsley told reporters.
“He didn’t really train. We assessed him thinking he was going to be OK but it didn’t pan out that way.
“Our medicos will assess him and work out the best plan of action. We’ve got this game, into Melbourne and then we’ve got the bye.
“I don’t know if that will factor in, if we push for next week or just take it easy with them and ensure they’re right for that next game after three weeks’ time.”
The Giants are due to face Melbourne in Alice Springs on Sunday.
