Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge has downplayed concerns about superstar midfielder Marcus Bontempelli needing a rest.
The Dogs skipper has battled knee and heel issues in recent weeks, with Beveridge suggesting last week he may need a game off.
But Bontempelli starred in Friday night’s win away to Port Adelaide.
“I don’t think he needs a rest,” Beveridge said after the Port game.
“I know I said maybe (last week). I was insinuating if we get to a point where he’s not training through or if he’s a bit too sore, we just won’t play him. That’s the maybe.
“We’re managing him week to week with what he’s doing training wise.
“As you can imagine, he just wants to keep playing. He’s improving. That heel is improving.
“The knee is problematic but it’s not getting any worse.”
The Dogs, who are 5-4, next face Carlton at Marvel Stadium on Saturday night.
