Luke Jackson
The Hawks’ dual ruck setup can restrict opposition scoring, but Jackson is in elite form right now. Safe VC shout with a solid ceiling.
Bontempelli vs Port
If he’s fit, he can absolutely explode in this matchup.
If he’s still carrying something, it could just be a soft 100. Huge risk vs reward play.
Butters vs Bulldogs
Loves this matchup and loves playing in Adelaide. Looks an excellent VC option this week.
Neale / Bailey vs Carlton
Neale is the safe premium route.
Bailey has massive upside if he hits the scoreboard, but comes with volatility. Can see the appeal, just not for me personally.
Xerri vs Grundy
A lot think they’ll negate each other… I actually think both could score well.
Both solid captain choices IMO — I’ll likely VC Xerri.
Heeney vs North
Slight concern over a possible FOS tag, but his form is simply too good to ignore. If I owned him, I’d still be very comfortable slapping the C on.
Callaghan / Oliver / Whitfield vs Essendon
I’d feel confident using either Callaghan or Oliver here.
Whitfield’s recent Achilles issue would probably steer me away this week.
Petracca vs Saints
Elite form for a forward/mid. Could lock him in with confidence this week.
NAS vs Gold Coast
No expected tag and feels due for a spike score. Massive ceiling if things click.
Baz / Holmes vs Magpies
Collingwood don’t really tag, so take your pick. Both are absolutely flying right now.
Gawn vs West Coast
Split ruck? Meh.
Playing forward? Meh.
Whether he dominates in the ruck or kicks a bag against West Coast, he still feels like one of the safest captain options this round. If my VC fails, I’ll likely land here.
Kozzy vs West Coast
Could have a massive influence on the game and post a huge score. Easy high-upside captain option.
Dawson vs Richmond
Hasn’t really hit the heights this year. Still solid, but I think there are better captain options available this week.
