The Adelaide Strikers have named a 14-player squad to face the Brisbane Heat on New Year’s Eve, with Alex Ross added and Jerrssis Wadia named to play too.
SQUAD NEWS
Wadia stayed back in Brisbane for scans after copping a blow in Saturday’s loss to the Heat.
Strikers captain Matt Short said on Tuesday: “He’s good. He stayed back in Brisbane overnight after the game just for a couple of scans and whatnot. But I think he’s pretty good. he’ll train today. We’re expecting him to play.”

The Brisbane Heat named a 13-player squad but will be without Shaheen Shah Afridi along with Tom Alsop due to knee injuries. That’ll likely thrust youngster Tom Balkin into a key role, having bowled the 20th over after Afridi succumbed to the injury.
The Heat provided an update: “Shaheen Shah Afridi (knee) commenced rehab and will be further reviewed upon the team’s return from Adelaide. Tom Alsop (knee) resumed training yesterday and will be reviewed again on 1 January.
“Nathan McSweeney (ankle) resumed training including batting and running; has travelled with the squad to Adelaide and will train again ahead of tomorrow night’s match.”
The Heat have added Jack Wood to the squad, coming in for Usman Khawaja as a local replacement player. He is a big-hitting all-rounder.

UPDATES
Hurricanes opening bat Tim Ward offered an update on Nikhil Chaudhary after he appeared to suffer a nasty shoulder injury in the field, before going on to bat.
Ward said: “I thought he might’ve been brown bread for a second. He’s alright. It’s a good thing he came out to bat. He must be doing OK.”
