The Melbourne Stars have confirmed Tom Rogers has been ruled out of the Boxing Day clash with the Sydney Sixers which is likely to mean Sam Harper opens and Glenn Maxwell bats 4.
Tom Rogers suffered a knee injury fielding on Tuesday in the Stars’ victory over the Adelaide Strikers and was unable to bat.
The Stars named him in their 14-player squad on Thursday, but confirmed his withdrawal on Friday, opting to “take a cautious approach”.
Fast bowler Tom Whitney replaces him in the 14, with all-rounder Jono Merlo added on Thursday.
The update said: “Rogers will be reassessed ahead of his side’s clash with the Sydney Thunder in Canberra on Sunday night.”
Stay tuned on Friday for the squads for Saturday’s Brisbane Heat-Adelaide Strikers clash which will be confirmed around 5pm AEDT.
