The early mail is trickling out with injury updates ahead of Round 13, headlined by James Sicily, Jason Horne-Francis, Sam Darcy and Adam Treloar.
Hawthorn coach Sam Mitchell discussed the timeline on James Sicily who has been ruled out with a hip/abdominal injury.
Mitchell said: “He got a big flare-up in the game and he’ll miss a couple of weeks, at least, now.
“It’s a little bit unpredictable. We’re hopeful the two weeks would be a maximum. He probably would play the third we hope. There’s a bye then, so on the other side of the bye hopefully we get him back.”
Port coach Ken Hinkley said Jason Horne-Francis won’t return this weekend from a hamstring injury, saying he’s “one session short”, indicating he’ll return in Round 14.
“Pretty close, you’ll see him train today. When they’re training it normally means they’re pretty damn close. I’ll be up front, he’s probably one session short.
“That is how close it was. If we were into taking risks or if we were nervous, we might have pushed it. We’re not, we are composed and calm while acknowledging we are not playing as we need to play.”
The Port coach offered an update on Kane Farrell’s return. He said: “Optimistically you’ll see him out here training today. He looks ready. He’s got to train and get through… we’re pretty optimistic we might get 3-4 that might be available.”
Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge revealed Sam Darcy is set to return in Round 14 following his long-term knee injury.
Beveridge said: “It seems like Sam will probably be available next week,. He’s trained with the group, got through most of the sessions … he’s been a real pro in his rehab. It seems like he’ll be ready for next week’s game at this point in time.”
The Dogs coach also declared Adam Treloar’s return from injury this weekend. He said: “Adam is going to play. He’ll be in the selected team.”
