We’ll go game-by-game across the AAMI Community Series to offer all the latest insights from coaches into who’s in form, who’s got a good role and the latest injury updates.
St Kilda vs Port Adelaide
St Kilda assistant coach Corey Enright
On Hugh Boxshall:
“He hasn’t done himself any harm. He’s had two encouraging games and that’s all you can ask… He along with some others.”
On Jack Macrae:
“You know what type of player he is and his quality. It’s great for him. We expect that performance. The value with Jack is his ability to teach other players good habits. He showed what a good player he is today.”
On Mitch Owens’ shoulder injury:
“We know he’s tough … it must have been a significant clash for him to do whatever he’s done… We’re positive and thinking it’s not a major thing.”
Port assistant coach Chad Cornes
On Jeremy Finlayson’s backline switch:
“The positive about Jez is the decisions he makes with ball in hand. And for a tall guy the way he finds the footy as well. He’s played there in bits and pieces, starting there at GWS, he’s played a bit down back here. To have him play like that in his first full game as a defender, there were some really good signs there.”
On Jason Horne-Francis and Connor Rozee:
“I thought Horne-Francis and Rozee really stepped up in Buttsy’s absence. As did the rest of the midfield. I thought Jordon sweet gave us first look.”
On Sam Powell-Pepper:
“Pep was OK last week. He had 3 shots on goal. I thought this week his movement was what I was most happy with.”
On Willie Rioli’s calf injury:
“Those three that came out were just managed. They’d had a high game load. There was nothing of concern in those three.”
