Jackson Macrae couldn’t have done much more to press his case for an AFL recall with 46 disposals, 7 marks and 5 tackles for Footscray against GWS in the VFL.
Macrae had 17 kicks and 29 handballs including 8 inside 50s and 16 clearances plus 5 tackles in a dominant display that equated to 149 Fantasy points.
But Dogs coach Luke Beveridge said after Sunday’s game: “Jack’s still in a build and today at VFL level is probably enough evidence that he’s pretty ready to step up so there’s no doubt he’ll be considered. We’ll work out the mix.”
Riley Garcia had 41 disposals with 7 marks, 8 tackles and 2 goals for 163 Fantasy points. Rory Lobb also kicked 4 goals to put some pressure on Sam Darcy to maintain his performance.
For GWS, Josh Fahey (30 disposals, 8 marks, 5 tackles) was good while potential debutant Darcy Jones couldn’t only manage 1 goal from 16 touches.
St Kilda rookie Arie Schoenmaker pushed his case for an AFL debut with 33 disposals and 13 marks for Sandringham in their 28-point loss to Collingwood.
Saints youngster Hugo Garcia had 14 disposals with 14 tackles for 100 Fantasy points, while Collingwood’s SSP recruit Lachlan Sullivan had 30 touches.
Gold Coast’s Joel Jeffrey impressed with 34 disposals, 11 marks and a goal, while James Tsitas had 40 touches, 10 marks and 7 tackles for 155 Fantasy points in Gold Coast’s loss to Richmond.
Kane McAuliffe had 31 touches and a goal for the Tigers, while deputy ruck Sam Naismith scored 127 Fantasy points from 24 disposals, 5 marks and 31 hitouts.
Brisbane’s James Tunstill gathered 33 disposals with 2 goals and 6 tackles for 138 Fantasy points in their win over Essendon. Lions cub Logan Morris booted 4 goals up forward. Young Bombers forward Nate Caddy kicked 2 goals from 9 touches.
Geelong’s mature-age recruit Mitch Hardie had 29 touches in their loss to Werribee. Toby Conway scored 102 Fantasy points with 17 disposals, 4 marks and 37 hitouts.
Swans 2022 Draft pick 20 Jacob Konstanty kicked 2 goals from 15 touches to push for an AFL debut. Peter Ladhams kicked 4 goals and had 19 touches with 10 marks up forward.
North SSP recruit Tyler Sellers kicked 6 goals from 15 possessions in their win over the Northern Bullants. Hawthorn’s Henry Hustwaite had 24 touches and 9 tackles for Box Hill.
