Sydney Thunder v Adelaide Strikers
Sunday 14 January 7:15pm AEDT, Manuka Oval
Thunder
Doubtful: None
Unavailable: Zaman Khan (Pakistan duty), Blake Nikitaras (knee), Sam Konstas (U19 World Cup)
Predicted Changes
In: Alex Ross
Out: Toby Gray
The Thunder are sitting last on the ladder after another loss where their batting let them down. Alex Ross must be a chance to return to strengthen their middle order. Spinner Toby Gray took 1-18 last game but only bowled two overs and may be expendable, with Chris Green and Tanveer Sangha also in the side.

Strikers
Doubtful: Chris Lynn (hamstring)
Unavailable: Travis Head (not made available after Test duty)
Predicted Changes
No changes
The Strikers are yet to officially rule out Chris Lynn from this game, so if he somehow proves his fitness to a hamstring injury – which is very unlikely – it’d be Thomas Kelly dropping out, rather than Jake Weatherald who blasted 80* from 32 balls in Lynn’s absence. But we’re not anticipating Lynn will be fit, nor any need for changes amid a good run of form.

Melbourne Stars v Hobart Hurricanes
Monday 15 January 7:15pm AEDT, MCG
Stars
Doubtful: Sam Harper (head knock)
Unavailable: Usama Mir, Haris Rauf (Pakistan duty), Liam Dawson, Olly Stone (stints complete)
Predicted Changes
No changes
The Stars’ finals hopes were ended by Adelaide’s win on Sunday, so that’ll impact selection. In saying that, it’s hard to see much movement. Sam Harper will miss again, while Scott Boland is available according to Cricket Australia despite his Test call-up.

Hurricanes
Doubtful: Matthew Wade (back), Riley Meredith (side)
Unavailable: Nil
Predicted Changes
In: Billy Stanlake
Out: Riley Meredith
Hobart’s season is over after, with finals out of reach so they may opt to bench Matthew Wade and Riley Meredith after back and side niggles. Billy Stanlake and Mitch Owen both really deserve an opportunity in this misfiring side.
Keep an eye on Chris Jordan’s availability given Hobart can’t make finals and his ILT20 side Gulf Giants play on January 19, meaning he could opt out early. For now, he’s expected to be available in the BBL.

Perth Scorchers v Sydney Sixers
Tuesday 16 January 7:40pm AEDT/4:40pm WST, Optus Stadium
Scorchers
Doubtful: Nil
Unavailable: Mitch Marsh (Test duty), Ashton Turner (knee)
Predicted Changes
No changes
The Scorchers may have found a new formula last time out against Brisbane, with three quicks and spinner Ashton Agar supported by Aaron Hardie as their fifth bowler. It added depth to their batting line-up with Nick Hobson winning Player of the Match with his knock at 7. As a result, it’s hard to see them make changes, even with Sam Whiteman struggling at the top of the order.
Whiteman is likely most expendable if they feel like bringing new signing Marcus Harris immediately in. They could also shift the team balance and bring in fast bowler Matt Kelly, but after beating the minor premiers, we feel that’s unlikely. They’ll also be aware Laurie Evans will exit come finals time, so will want to keep getting games into their bats.
Second spot, a double chance and a shot at hosting the Grand Final is on the line too, so this is big stakes, best XI stuff.

Sixers
Doubtful: Nil
Unavailable: Tom Curran (knee), Steve Smith (Test duty)
Predicted Changes
In: Dan Hughes, Jackson Bird
Out: Steve Smith, Todd Murphy
Like with the Scorchers, this game is high stakes, with second spot on the line. The Sixers will be forced into one change, with Steve Smith unavailable. Dan Hughes is his obvious replacement, although they’ll consider leaving Josh Philippe at first drop given he had success there last game. However, he came in for the second ball after Smith got a golden duck, so it’s little difference.
On the Perth track, Jackson Bird can do damage with his swing in the power play so Todd Murphy will make way and veteran Steve O’Keefe will back up after his starring display and make the trip west. Hopefully SOK can cope with the four-hour flight and crossing the border which seemed to upset the poor lad a few years back.

Sydney Thunder v Melbourne Renegades
Wednesday 17 January 7:15pm AEDT, Sydney Showground Stadium
Thunder
Doubtful: None
Unavailable: Zaman Khan (Pakistan duty), Blake Nikitaras (knee), Sam Konstas (U19 World Cup), Tom Kohler-Cadmore (ILT20)
Predicted Changes
In: Gurinder Sandhu
Out: Nathan McAndrew
Tom Kohler-Cadmore will miss this game as he’ll be captaining the Sharjah Warriors on January 19 in the opening game of the ILT20. The Thunder’s dismal loss on Sunday means they mean may changes with Jason Sangha, Will Salzmann, Gurinder Sandhu and Toby Gray among those in contention.

Renegades
Doubtful: Nil
Unavailable: Quinton de Kock (SA20), Joe Clarke (quad), Nathan Lyon (Test duty), Mujeeb Ur Rahman (ACB revoked NOC), Harry Dixon (U19 World Cup)
Predicted Changes
In: Scott Edwards
Out: Aaron Finch
Aaron Finch has bowed out into retirement, while Jordan Cox’s availability is unclear given his Gulf Giants also play in the ILT20 on January 19. Netherlands wicketkeeper-batsman Scott Edwards is likely to come into the side as a result. Expect the Gades to experiment a bit. Shaun Marsh will play his final professional game.
