Darcy Cameron’s ruck role alongside Mason Cox was discussed, while Jordan De Goey was declared available with Ed Allan in the mix, plus GWS coach Adam Kingsley offered a Toby Greene update.
UPDATES
Collingwood coach Craig McRae discussed his ruck mix after Mason Cox impressed as sub last week supporting Darcy Cameron. He said: “We’ll work through that. I think that our best mix right now is Darcy and Mason. What that looks like in two weeks I’m not sure. When they’re both at their best, I think it’s a good combination for us.”
McRae ruled out Nathan Murphy due to soreness while he also confirmed Jordan De Goey will playafter a glute injury, along with Bobby Hill. McRae said: “Like I said last week, there is some risk (versus) reward attached. There was an element of risk for both of those players. Jordy would have played if it was a Saturday game. He has trained well all week. Bobby is the same. We’re excited to have those two guys back.”
The Pies coach hinted Ed Allan could debut. McRae said: “He’s been playing well. His magnet will be close to the board. Whether it fits, we’ll wait and see.”
Adelaide coach Matthew Nicks confirmed Shane McAdam and Rory Sloane will miss their final roud game due to injury, hinting Lachlan Gollant is the likely replacement for McAdam after 16 goals in four SANFL games. He also said they’d likely not blood a debutant.
GWS coach Adam Kingsley heaped praise on Stephen Coniglio ahead of his 200th game after a strong year. He said: “He’s had a lean patch for a little period but you look at his work ethic, the person he is, you’re so proud for him that he’s been able to recapture his best form. Good things happen to good people.”
Kingsley also indicated Finn Callaghan would likely miss due to Achilles soreness, while Xavier O’Halloran was a chance to come in after six weeks out with a thumb injury.
He added that Toby Greene was feeling fresh after being subbed last week. Kingsley said: “Speaking to him earlier today, he feels really good and he probably wasn’t saying that the last month. For him to be a little fresher than he otherwise would be at this time of year is really positive.”
Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir said they were unlikely to blood any debutants in their Round 24 game.
