Keeping it short with the top 5 options this week due to a mixture of being on holiday and a lack of genuine early VC options for the round. Read below to see who to VC/C this week!
Vice-Captains
There’s nothing compelling early in the round from a VC perspective especially given the difficulty of Friday night’s Collingwood-Brisbane match-up for both sides, along with the recent form of Josh Dunkley and Lachie Neale, plus Nick Daicos’ absence.
If anyone, Nic Newman may be worth a crack, playing in the third game of the round and holding the best three-game average in AFL Fantasy, with 133. The Blues are up against struggling Gold Coast too.
Tim Taranto’s 14-game ton run is a thing of the past but he has tonned up three times in Richmond’s past five games and they play lowly North in the first game on Saturday. Why not!?
Captains
- Marcus Bontempelli He can sniff a Brownlow, and has the Eagles matchup this week for him to really put on a show and chase those 3 votes. Last week against the Eagles, Freo had 7 players score over a ton in a massive win, so imagine what the Bont can do this week. 30 touches, 3 goals and 130+. Top option this week.
- Clayton Oliver Picked up right where he left off earlier in the year in his return last week, pumping out 126 from 81% TOG. He’s fit, and he still hasn’t scored below a ton this year. Has the Hawks this week, who he scored 126 against in round 9, he’s a beast and you can back him to finish the year without a score under 100.
- Tim English Held to 96 last week in a tough matchup for ruckman, English has one of the easiest ruck match ups in the comp this week. His two scores before last week were 131 and 153, with a 140 two weeks before that. His ceiling is as good as anyone’s, and he hits it as frequently as anyone too. Don’t be surprised to see another monster 150 this week. The only reason he doesn’t sit at the top of the list is that he is playing at Marvel. Will still be huge.
- Tom Green Another man who has returned from a hamstring injury and shown no signs of it bothering him. 141 and 118 in his two games since returning in tough matchups against the Swans and Port respectively, expect him to keep that scoring up this week in a better matchup against Essendon, who he had 111 on earlier in the year. A massive game in terms of the ladder at seasons end, expect Green to have another big day.
- Jordan Dawson A couple of tough weeks in a row for Dawson, he returns home this week against the Swans and should avoid any attention in this one. Another huge game in context of who plays finals against his old side this week, I expect Dawson to stand up and return to his 120+ scoring ways from not too many weeks ago.
