SUNDAY TEAMS

Key ins: Mullin, C.Harvey, Xerri

Key outs: Fyfe (inj), Ziebell, Goldstein

Key holds: Pedlar, Cincotta, Ford, Wardlaw

Possible subs/emergencies: Borlase, Cowan

Confirmed subs: Worner, Ziebell

The main news from selection was Geelong including Oisin Mullin (AF $244k SC $102k DEF) after a few weeks out, but nothing was bigger than North Melbourne omitting Jack Ziebell (AF $776k SC $468k D/F) to sub.

DEBUTANT ALERT

Fremantle also confirmed in advance that Karl Worner (AF $200k SC $123k D/M) will debut as sub for them against Carlton on Sunday. He was pick 8 in the 2021 Rookie Draft and is a 188cm half-back/winger who has averaged 25.3 disposals in the WAFL this year.

UPDATES

Brisbane Lions coach Chris Fagan offered an insight into the calf injury to Josh Dunkley (AF $985k SC $685k M/F), having been listed as 1-2 weeks.

Referencing Jarrod Berry who is out with a minor hamstring injury, Fagan said: “I’m probably less confident that Josh will be one week than I am with Bez (Berry). I think he’s a chance next week, but again we’re not going to take a risk with him. He’s a very important player to us.”

Fagan confirmed Daniel Rich will play VFL this weekend, while he said Dayne Zorko had “trained well all week” to force his return from injury having been available last week but nursed back.

Carlton coach Michael Voss said Tom De Koning would need to prove his fitness at training on Friday to play on Sunday against Fremantle, while he offered an insight into the value provided by David Cuningham and Lachie Fogarty, who’ve come into the side in recent weeks.

Voss said: “It’s changed up our forward mix somewhat. They’ve (Cuningham, Fogarty and Martin) all had an impact which is really pleasing to see. Particularly with Cunners and Jack, they’ve had some challenges with their bodies to get them to where they need to be. To see how they’ve translated that into the difference they’ve made to us in the front half has been pretty significant. We obviously want them fit and healthy and in good form because they add a lot to us.”

Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley said they expected Scott Lycett to play next week after a minor knee issue.
