Gold Coast confirmed that Touk Miller (AF $922k SC $624k MID) has sustained a lateral meniscus tear to his left knee. Suns Footy GM Wayne Campbell said: “We expect him to miss a fair portion of footy. We can’t really put a timeframe on that until after he’s seen the surgeon, but he will be unavailable in the short-to-medium term and we’ll provide further updates, once confirmed.”
Bailey Smith (AF $852k SC $503k M/F) is in contention to return from a calf issue in Round 7. Dofs Head of Sports Medicine Chris Bell said: “Bailey didn’t play on the weekend to allow us to carefully rebuild his loads and get some continuity in his training. In some good news, he successfully completed a game like rehab session on Friday. He will return to a full training model, and if he gets through like I expect, he will return to availability.”
Sydney coach John Longmire confirmed Matt Roberts (AF $213k SC $129k M/F) will miss games due to his knee injury. He said: “It’s a medial. He’s getting a scan today but he’ll be a few weeks.”
Port confirmed a season-ending ACL injury for Mitch Georgiades, which may aid Ollie Lord’s (AF $200k SC $123k D/F) job security, with Todd Marshall out for next round too with concussion. Power defender Kane Farrell is also out for next round and likely to miss two matches after having surgery to repair a broken cheekbone which may help Dylan Williams’ (AF $246k SC $123k FWD) job security/return to the 22.
Fremantle said defender Heath Chapman (calf) is a chance to be available for their next game against Brisbane, which may impact Corey Wagner’s (AF $299k SC $117k D/M) selection.
