The MRO headlines Monday’s news, with Tom Green handed a one-week ban, Anthony Caminiti is headed straight to the Tribunal, while Essendon will challenge Zach Merrett’s suspension.
GWS’ Tom Green (AF $868k SC $536k MID) has been offered a one-match suspension by the MRO for a dangerous tackle on Josh Ward. The incident was graded as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact. If the suspension remains, Green would miss the Giants’ match against Brisbane on Saturday.
St Kilda SSP recruit Anthony Caminiti (AF $356k SC $229k FWD) is headed straight to the Tribunal for striking Collingwood’s Nathan Murphy, and is facing a ban of four weeks or more. The incident was graded as intentional conduct, severe impact and high contact.
Essendon will appeal the one-match suspension handed to Zach Merrett (AF $923k SC $578k MID), which would result in him missing the ANZAC Day clash against Collingwood. Merrett was offered a week by the MRO for a dangerous tackle laid on Melbourne’s Tom Sparrow. It was graded as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact.
Collingwood’s Taylor Adams (AF $638k SC $386k M/F) has been offered a week for a dangerous tackle on St Kilda’s Seb Ross. It was graded as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact.
Port Adelaide bubble rookie Dylan Williams (AF $246k SC $123k FWD) escaped with a $1500 fine for tripping the Western Bulldogs’ Mitch Hannan.
Sydney key forward Joel Amartey (AF $481k SC $255k FWD) will spend a lengthy stint on the sidelines after suffering a major hamstring injury. The latest update said that Amartey is expected to be ruled out until at least the Swans’ mid-season bye in round 12. A must-trade for those that still have him in Fantasy/SuperCoach.
In West Coast’s latest injury update, Elliot Yeo (AF $572k SC $337k DEF) (groin) and Elijah Hewett (AF $251k SC $137k MID) (ankle) will be sent for scans to determine the extent of their injuries. On Yeo, Football GM Gavin Bell said: “We’ll know more information in the next couple of days, we’ll get some scans done on that and the medical team will get to work.”
In Fremantle’s injury update, Sam Switkowski is likely to miss the next two weeks with a calf injury. Switkowski has been getting occasional CBAs, although they saw a big decrease against Gold Coast with Will Brodie playing. No return date has been set for Nat Fyfe (AF $657k SC $313k M/F) (foot). Executive GM Peter Bell said: “We feel like we’re making ground, and hopefully he is not too far away.”
Rory Laird (AF $911k SC $638k MID) joined Kymbo and the Rooch and spoke about the Adelaide midfield’s shutdown job on Carlton skipper Patrick Cripps (AF $853k SC $577k MID), which was led by Jordan Dawson (AF $889k SC $655k D/M). Laird said: “Daws played a fair bit on him, especially around the centre bounce, he’s sort of that like for like in size. It was sort of a team effort, we knew that he (Cripps) wants to be that hit-to option a lot, but in the end we were able to stop him from getting too much influence around the contest. Daws did a great job on him and we were able to go the other way as well, you see how much impact he (Dawson) had on the game.”
