The 2022-23 cricket schedule is taking shape with international tours and global T20 leagues formalizing dates, which has a big trickle-on effect to SuperCoach BBL which is now open.
It’s always crucial to know when players are coming and going in SC BBL, as that has a huge impact on planning.
So we’ve put together an availability calendar, to help you forge forward with your starting squads.
The series which will likely have the most impact are Australia’s Tests against South Africa (Dec 17-21, Dec 26-30, Jan 4-8), the UAE’s International T20 League (Jan 13-Feb 12) and South Africa’s new SA-20 (Jan 10-Feb 11).

Also stay tuned for additional tours to be confirmed, along with possible late signings in other franchise T20 leagues. We’ll have that all on Twitter @HoneyballBBL.
Australia v South Africa Tests (*Dec 17-Jan 8)
Confirmed Australia members: David Warner, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Travis Head, Cameron Green, Alex Carey, Nathan Lyon, Marcus Harris, Lance Morris, Ashton Agar, Matt Renshaw
Possible: Josh Inglis, Mark Steketee, Mitch Swepson, Jhye Richardson, Michael Neser, Aaron Hardie, Todd Murphy, Jhye Richardson, Adam Zampa
The Australia Tests will rule out that group until approximately Round 9 or 10. The good news is the ODIs against South Africa scheduled for after the Tests in January got cancelled freeing up all Aussie internationals to play in the BBL from that point.
Ashton Agar and Matt Renshaw were called into the third Test squad so will miss a run of BBL games.
Pakistan v England Tests (Dec 1-21)
Confirmed players: Zak Crawley, Faheem Ashraf
Hurricanes replacement signing Zak Crawley and Pakistani all-rounder Faheem Ashraf have both been picked for this series. This series will end around Round 4-5 of BBL. Both are due in Hobart imminently.
UAE International League T20 (Jan 13-Feb 12)
Confirmed players: Akeal Hosein, Sam Billings, Alex Hales, Colin Munro, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Chris Jordan, James Vince, Trent Boult, Adam Lyth, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Naveen-ul-Haq, Chris Lynn, Marcus Stoinis
These players will be leaving the BBL around Round 8-9, possibly earlier. Honeyball has had it confirmed that Adam Lyth’s last game for Perth will be January 7 (Round 8) so that’ll be indicative.
The Heat have confirmed Colin Munro and Sam Billings’ final games will be January 7, which is Round 8, before flying out.
The Gades have confirmed Akeal Hosein and Mujeeb Ur Rahman’s final games will be January 7, which is also Round 8 against Hobart, before departing.
James Vince departure date for the ILT20 has been confirmed, with the Sydney Sixers informing Honeyball that he will be available for both games of their Round 8 double on January 6 and January 8, before flying out. However, Chris Jordan’s last game before he heads to the ILT20 is to be confirmed.
Trent Boult will play his final game for the Stars against the Sixers on Friday against (Round 8) before heading to the ILT20.
Chris Lynn will play up until January 14 (Round 10) for the Strikers, while Marcus Stoinis will leave once his BBL commitments with the Stars are concluded.
SA-20 (Jan 10–Feb 11)
Confirmed players: Rashid Khan, Rilee Rossouw, Phil Salt, Faf du Plessis, Jimmy Neesham
These players will be leaving the BBL around Round 8-9, possibly earlier. Honeyball has had it confirmed that Rashid Khan’s last game for Adelaide will be January 5 (Round 8) and Faf du Plessis’ last for Perth will be January 4 (Round 7) so that’ll be indicative.
Jimmy Neesham’s last game for Hobart is New Year’s Eve, although he is being replaced in the squad. Rilee Rossouw’s last game for the Thunder was January 4 against Perth.
Pakistan v New Zealand Tests and ODIs (Tests Dec 27-Jan 8 and ODIs Jan 11-15)
Possible: Faheem Ashraf, Asif Ali, Shadab Khan (all likely only ODIs)
None of the BBL’s Kiwis have been picked in this squad by New Zealand for either the Tests or ODIs. The Hurricanes have already moved to sign a replacement player for Shadab Khan during this series, in Zak Crawley. Honeyball has had it confirmed Shadab’s last game before flying out will be January 2 (Round 7), meaning he misses Hobart’s Round 8 double. He is likely to return for either their January 18 game against Perth or January 20 game against Brisbane.
Faheem wasn’t named in the Test squad.
Pakistan v West Indies T20Is (slated for mid-to-late Jan)
This series has been postponed until 2024.
India v New Zealand T20Is (Jan 18-23) and ODIs (Jan 27-Feb 1)
Possible: Trent Boult, Martin Guptill, Jimmy Neesham (only T20Is)
None of these Black Caps players were selected in the ODI squad, having previously said they wanted to prioritise T20 leagues.
South Africa v England ODIs (Jan 27-Feb 1)
Not named in initial squad: Sam Billings, James Vince, Chris Jordan, Alex Hales, Luke Wood,
This squad has been named, with the BBL unaffected, but stay tuned for any late additions. The bulk of these listed players are in other T20 leagues by this point anyway.
