Braydon Preuss and Tim Taranto are pressing to return in Round 23 for the GWS Giants along with Buku Khamis, while Geelong goal machine Jeremy Cameron has been ruled out.
UPDATES
Jeremy Cameron (AF $682k SC $459k FWD) will miss Round 23 against Geelong due to a hamstring injury. Geelong head of medical and conditioning services Harry Taylor said: “Jeremy came to bench late in the final quarter of Saturday’s game against the Gold Coast after reporting some low-level hamstring symptoms.
“We chose to take a no risk policy and decided not to have him return to the field. Jeremy has assessed well, and scans today have confirmed low level fluid consistent with a minor strain. We will track his progress through the week and he will be managed according to benchmark measures. We expect Jeremy to be ready for our first Final.”
GWS have confirmed that Braydon Preuss (AF $629k SC $396k RUC) faces a fitness test to be available for Round 23. The Giants update said: “Ruckman Braydon Preuss will be a test this week after missing last weekend with a minor shoulder injury.”
Tim Taranto (AF $769k SC $473k M/F) looks set to be available. The club said: “Midfielder Tim Taranto and small forward James Peatling are both likely to return this week after exiting the concussion protocols. The pair will need to pass their final medical requirements to be cleared to play.”
Buku Khamis (AF $358k SC $239 DEF) could be available for Round 23. The Dogs update said: “Buku Khamis suffered a head knock in the VFL a week ago and is recovering well during the concussion protocol period. The defender completed a session over the weekend and will be assessed during main training to determine his availability.”
Nathan Fyfe (AF $540k SC $422k MID) is in the mix to return from a hamstring injury. Freo High Performance Manager Phil Merriman said: “Nathan’s got to get through training on Wednesday, and if so, he should be available to play.”
