UPDATES

Max Gawn (AF $806k SC $574k RUC) is looming as a popular trade-in target this round and Demons coach Simon Goodwin had some interesting comments to make about his role.

Goodwin said: “Max Gawn is having a big impact for us forward of centre. Gawny is looking more and more dangerous as a forward and it’s something we’ve liked in the last three or four weeks and it’s something we’ll continue to pursue.”

There’s been another twist in the Patrick Cripps (AF $809k SC $553k MID) saga with Carlton confirming it will appeal the two-game suspension which was upheld by the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday. The hearing will be held at 6pm AEST on Thursday.

Geelong coach Chris Scott indicated Patrick Dangerfield (AF $597k SC $399k MID) is likely to play this round, while he revealed Isaac Smith (AF $667k SC $389k M/F) will be rested and won’t make the trip to face Gold Coast.

On Dangerfield, who missed last round with calf tightness, Scott said: “From our conversations, it’s all looking really positive in terms of him playing … it was a really conservative call to take him out last week.”

North Melbourne confirmed Ben Cunnington (AF $832k SC $591k MID) will play for the first time this AFL season.
