It was a quiet Wednesday of fantasy relevant news but Collingwood coach Craig McRae offered an update on Brodie Grundy while North interim coach Leigh Adams spoke about Aaron Hall’s return.
UPDATES
McRae has ruled out Brodie Grundy (AF $802k SC $544k RUC) for Round 21 and admitted he’s having some ankle issues although he’s still hoping he can play VFL this weekend. All this may impact Darcy Cameron’s (AF $710k SC $477k F/R) role moving forward.
The Pies coach said on SEN: “Unfortunately, he pulled up a little bit sore. He trained yesterday and he got through the session, but he’s still a little bit sore. We won’t play him in the AFL this week, we’re hoping he gets up by the end of the week to play VFL again, but it might be just a wait and see at the moment. He was a little bit sore yesterday post training.”
He added: “He’s having some awareness in the ankle during training and then it settles down a bit and then when he gets up to perform again there’s a little bit in it still. We’re just going to have to wait and see. He’s going to get some more treatment today and then see if he can train tomorrow and see where we’re at.”
Darcy Parish (AF $824k SC $586k MID) appears set to return from a calf injury. Essendon Head of High Performance Sean Murphy said: “Parish ticked off a really good session here at the NEC Hangar. It was a really combative session, he ticked off all the markers we needed him to. He’ll train fully across this week and if he gets through ok, he’ll be available this weekend.”
Murphy confirmed that Jye Caldwell (AF $609k SC $431k MID) will miss one week with a low-end calf strain, while Dylan Shiel (AF $733k SC $516k) will miss due to a low-end hamstring strain.
Aaron Hall (AF $691k SC $495k DEF) missed last round due to health and safety protocols but got out on Sunday and is likely to line up this weekend, along with rookie Paul Curtis (AF $435k SC $282k FWD).
Adams said: “Curtis and Hall will train fully and if they get through they will also be available for selection.”
The North coach said Ben Cunnington (AF $832k SC $591k MID) is likely to play VFL but could be considered for a late-season Draft smokie.
