St Kilda have named Tom Campbell (AF $453k SC $312k RUC) who’ll partner Rowan Marshall (AF $759k SC $451k R/F) with ruck duties which may impact the latter’s scoring potential. For what it’s worth, Campbell has been named at ruck and Marshall named at forward pocket.

Leek Aleer (AF $262k SC $144k DEF) will make his debut for GWS Giants, having gone at pick 15 in the 2021 AFL Draft. He is an athletic 195cm key defender who had 11 disposals, 3 marks and 2 tackles in the VFL last weekend.

Mac Andrew (AF $282k SC $189k RUC) will debut for Gold Coast, having been pick 5 in the 2021 AFL Draft. He is a 201cm key defender, averaging 14.6 disposals, 5.1 marks and 1.8 tackles per game in the VFL this season.

Power coach Ken Hinkley said: “We will look at Teakle/Hayes/Finlayson and Dixon which has been working pretty well for us. It is pretty close (between Hayes and Teakle). Sam Hayes’ past couple of weeks has been pretty strong. Brynn was very unlucky with what happened to him and he has shown enough that we are excited with what he may bring to our footy team.”

North Melbourne caretaker coach Leigh Adams revealed that Paul Curtis (AF $435k SC $282k FWD) was among the four players who has been struck down by Covid-19. He said: “Two players will be out this week. Ben Cunnington and Paul Curtis are in health and safety protocols and won’t get out in time.”

Elliot Yeo (AF $552k SC $417k MID) has suffered an injury setback with his calf, which will likely positively impact Alex Witherden’s (AF $753k SC $477k DEF) job security. Eagles coach Adam Simpson said it was “not significant”.

Jai Culley (AF $289k SC $102k M/F) earned praise from Simpson, reiterating his job security. He said: “Jai has played two games and they’ve been two pretty good games on ball. We’ll continue to see him grow.”
