Massimo D’Ambrosio and Jase Burgoyne were both omitted once the Sunday teams landed with the latter possibly medi sub, while North provided an update on Aaron Hall’s quad injury.
SUNDAY TEAMS (key ins/outs)
Key ins: Witherden, Jamieson, Culley
Key outs: D’Ambrosio, G.Clark, Naitanui (inj), Trew, J.Burgoyne, McEntee
Key holds: Hobbs, Oea, Macdonald, Hough, Bazzo, Mead
Emergencies/possible subs: D’Ambrosio, Menzie, J.Serong, Trew, G.Clark, J.Burgoyne
The two big Sunday teams casualties were Massimo D’Ambrosio (AF $329k SC $195k DEF) and Jase Burgoyne (AF $253k SC $117k D/M), although the latter may still be medi sub with Port taking 25 to Alice Springs.
Port General Manager of Football Chris Davies: “Jase Burgoyne has had a really good start to his career. With Bonner coming back in, it will be one of those guys at half-back who will miss out or be the medical substitute. Jase has been fantastic.”
D’Ambrosio looks far less likely to be medi sub despite being named as one of four emergencies, with Dons coach Ben Rutten stating: “‘Mass’ has been here five weeks and has played four games of AFL footy which is really impressive and credit to him.
“But the last couple of weeks, we’ve got Redman and (Andrew) McGrath back in, so it’s a good problem to have in terms of our selection squeeze. We certainly love what we’ve seen from Mass and he gets an opportunity now to play some good footy in the VFL and put some pressure on again.”
UPDATES
Aaron Hall (AF $703k SC $495k DEF) looks likely to return in Round 19 having missed out again this week with a quad issue. North caretaker coach Leigh Adams said: “Everything going well, he should be ready next week.”
