Waiting in the Wings: Taranto impresses upon VFL return, Hollands presses case for debut, Hunter stars

GWS Giants forward Tim Taranto impressed in his return via the VFL after a back injury and will be a likely inclusion this week after finishing with 32 disposals on managed minutes.

The Giants said in their VFL report: “Tim played half in the midfield and then one quarter up forward. His time on the field was managed but he had a strong impact on the game, especially through the middle of the ground.”

Likewise, Lachie Hunter returned for the Bulldogs, and could put pressure on Robbie McComb’s position in the team after gathering 30 disposals with a goal.

The big watch will be on Elijah Hollands this week after another impressive performance, and a few injuries in the senior side. Hollands finished with 21 disposals and a goal, but Jeremy Sharp and Rory Atkins were also impressive.

Mid season draftees Wade Derksen (GWS) and Jai Culley (West Coast) had solid performances and will be ones to watch in the coming weeks.

Sydney’s mid-season draftee Hugo Hall-Kahan could be in line for an early debut after a standout performance, kicking five goals to go with his 23 disposals.
