UPDATES
Essendon confirmed on Friday that Jordan Ridley (AF $623k SC $492k DEF) will miss their Round 10 game having entered health and safety protocols. For what it’s worth, Essendon’s Round 11 game is on a Sunday.
Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge offered an update on Tim English (AF $837k SC $572k R/F) who has been out with illness lately. He said: “He trained the full session on Wednesday and got through no worries. Hopefully next week he continues to train and he might be available for next week.”
There was some possibly negative news for the role of Darcy Cameron (AF $587k SC $411k FWD) with Pies coach Craig McRae stating that recalled Mason Cox (AF $374k SC $275k FWD) will “play mainly ruck”.
It’s hard to see Aiden Begg (AF $269k SC $148k RUCK) getting recalled quickly too. McRae said: “Aiden has given us three games of great learning for him. The experiences he’s gained, he’s going to be much better for.”
West Coast coach Adam Simpson spoke about potential debutants Zane Trew (AF $190k SC $123k MID) and Rhett Bazzo (AF $218k SC $117k D/F) who were named in the Eagles’ extended squad for Sunday’s game with GWS.
He said: “Watch this space. We could have another debutant. Could be the medical sub, Zane or Rhett. That’s not ideal but we don’t have a choice.”
St Kilda coach Brett Ratten praised youngster Marcus Windhager (AF $303k SC $190k M/F) who has been backed in in Jack Steele’s absence in a positive sign for his job security. Ratten said: “Marcus Windhager’s form on the weekend was nearly game-changing for us, the way he went about it. He gets a full game now which is great so two (Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera) young players stepping straight into teams, it’s good.”
Matt Crouch (AF $684k SC $480k MID) is definitely not out of the calculations at Adelaide. Crows coach Matthew Nicks said: “He delivered last week for us (in the SANFL) and gave us what we were after… He’s an on-field general. It’s something at AFL level moving forward, he’s going to be important. We’ll look at that come next week. Matty is a massive part of our future.”
Nicks also confirmed Lachlan Sholl (AF $536k SC $320k MID) will be their medi-sub.
