The major selection news from an AFL Fantasy and SuperCoach perspective is St Kilda have dropped Jack Hayes (AF $367k SC $187k F/R).

Jake Stringer (AF $640k SC $506k M/F) is out with a hamstring injury, which has opened the door for Ben Hobbs (AF $266k SC $153k MID) as a potential sub for Essendon.

Stand-in Dons coach Blake Caracella said earlier in the day: “Ben Hobbs has been in good VFL form and is definitely in the mix to come into the team.”

UPDATES

West Coast coach Adam Simpson offered an update on the job security of Hugh Dixon (AF $226k SC $102k F/R).

Simpson said: “Whilst we think Bailey (Williams) is going to be a really good player for us, with coming out of protocols, we felt Dicko held his own for a four-game player, we thought we’d see him for another game.”

The Eagles coach also spoke about the injury to Andrew Gaff (AF $817k SC $496k MID). He said: “He had an issue with his ankle over the off-season and it got stood on on the weekend. Unfortunately we needed to give it a bit of a rest, at least one, one to two.”

Dylan Stephens (AF $518k SC $202k MID) appears set to play VFL for Sydney and thus will not be their AFL team’s medical sub having been named as one of the emergencies. Stephens was named by coach Jeremy Laidler in their VFL side to play on Saturday.

Dogs coach Luke Beveridge talked up emerging ruck Tim English (AF $769k SC $521k F/R). He said: “That balance of his game, competing at the stoppages and playing the turnover game like a midfielder was really impressive last week. To see him really influence the outcome of a game was terrific.”
