Stay up to date throughout the round with our rolling injury report from the coaches post-game. With the nine-game round extending from Friday night through until Sunday night, these snippets of info will be key.

Fremantle v West Coast

Fremantle subbed off Connor Blakely (AF $303k SC $265k MID) with a hamstring injury. West Coast lost Tim Kelly (AF $571k SC $416k MID) to a knee injury.

Eagles coach Adam Simpson said: “He’s got a medial on his other knee that he hurt earlier in the year. I’m pretty sure he won’t be available (next week).” Simpson also said Josh Kennedy (AF $439k SC $359k FWD) was sore and Jamie Cripps (AF $554k SC $370k FWD) lost some teeth after a stray elbow.

Freo coach Justin Longmuir noted Adam Cerra (AF $708k SC $494k MID) copped a cork, when he said: “I think ‘Cez’ got a little corkie, but he’ll be right.”

Gold Coast v Essendon

Sean Lemmens (AF $348k SC $265k D/F) received a cork late in the second term and Jack Bowes (AF $501k SC $345k DEF) had a tight hamstring, while Essendon did not use their sub.

On Bowes, Suns coach Stuart Dew said: “We’re unsure. He might have a bit of a tight hammy. We won’t know until we see how we pulls up tomorrow.”

Melbourne v Adelaide

Steven May (AF $489k SC $443k DEF) was a late withdrawal with general soreness. Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin said: “He’ll be playing next week… We travelled back from Perth, got home at 6.30am on the Tuesday morning and then had three days home quarantine leading into this game. He (May) was really sore, didn’t recover as well as we would have liked and we were in a position we didn’t need to take a risk with him.”

Demons GM – Football Performance Alan Richardson said pre-game: “We expect him after a full week of training, he’ll be fit and firing for our match against Geelong.”

Elliott Himmelberg (AF $361k SC $278k FWD) was subbed out with a hamstring injury.

North Melbourne v Sydney

North coach David Noble mentioned Jack Ziebell (AF $674k SC $511k D/F*) had a calf issue late, while he also cleared Aiden Bonar (AF $345k SC $272k DEF) from concussion after a post-game test.

Noble said: “Jack Ziebell came off. He had a pretty sore calf in the back end. We’ve been managing him through that. He did a pretty good job to get through to nearly the end of the game.”

Sydney coach John Longmire provided updates on Callum Mills (AF $830k SC $588k D/M*) and Jake Lloyd (AF $706k SC $520k DEF) who missed the game with Achilles and knee problems.

On Mills, Longmire said: “We’re hopeful. He was moving OK today. We need to keep putting some load through his Achilles and hopefully he’ll be OK for next week.”

On Lloyd, Longmire said: “Jake was a bit knocked about. A bit of a sore knee. We expect him to be OK next week.”

Longmire offered updates on Nick Blakey (AF $469k SC $347k M/F) who was subbed out with an ankle injury and Josh Kennedy (AF $650k SC $516k MID).

On Blakey, he said: “It’s disappointing he hurt his ankle, obviously it didn’t look great and we’ll have to see how the scans go. It was bad enough to sub him, we think it’s not just a roll. We’ve got our fingers crossed that hopefully it’s not too bad, but it swelled up pretty much straight away.”

On Kennedy, he said: “He did (grab his hamstring) in the last minute 20. He tightened up in the hamstring. He just said he felt tight and didn’t want to keep jogging and running. He came off the ground. We’ll have to see how he pulls up.”

The Swans coach also said Lance Franklin (AF $480k SC $400k FWD) will play next week. He said: “With Lance, it was a time to train up some high speed efforts during the week which he was able to do.”

Brisbane Lions v Collingwood

The Pies lost Trey Ruscoe (AF $372k SC $293k FWD) to a knee problem. Collingwood coach Robert Harvey said: “I don’t think it’s too bad. he was really struggling for mobility. I think he’ll be OK but I’m not sure.”

Lions coach Chris Fagan said Marcus Adams (AF $438k SC $418k DEF) should be “available next week” after injury.

Port Adelaide v Carlton

Scott Lycett (AF $633k SC $451k RUCK) was subbed out for Port due to a left knee knock. Port coach Ken Hinkley said: “He was a bit sore and we were very mindful of that. At three-quarter time, we had that conversation. He said it wasn’t perfect, but that it would be best if he didn’t have to (play on). We took that out of his hands, to be fair to him.

“It wasn’t worth the risk and we didn’t want to make him any sorer. We need to see how he pulls up tomorrow before we make any decisions around next week. When you’re in that position, we didn’t abuse the sub rule because he was certainly sore enough. It was just the right thing to do at that time for us.”

Patrick Cripps (AF $564k SC $415k MID) was a late out for Carlton and coach David Teague explained he would likely be OK to play next round.

He said: “Crippa should be right. He had a tight quad which we were hoping would be up. We allowed it until this morning. We did a few run-throughs but it wasn’t going to be good even to get through a whole game. He’ll hopefully play next week.”

Geelong v St Kilda

Geelong coach Chris Scott confirmed that Tom Stewart (AF $711k SC $557k DEF) will not play next week.

Scott said: “He’s going to have surgery on that Lisfranc ligament injury on Monday, so if people are saying he’s going to be out for the season, they know more than I do.

“I don’t think even a higher power knows if he will come back or not, but what we’ve been told is that it’s possible, however slim that chance is. Probably the last game of the season (Grand Final) is the hope, so we’ve got a bit of work to do between now and then.”

Brett Ratten noted Max King‘s (AF $438k SC $373k FWD) groin/adductor injury. “I don’t know if he’s re-injured it or if it’s worse than it was. He just tweaked it again. It points to not playing next week.”

Ratten confirmed Darragh Joyce (AF $254k SC $195k DEF) suffered a concussion late.

Hawthorn v Western Bulldogs

Neither side used their sub. Jaeger O’Meara (AF $686k SC $474k MID) was a late out with knee soreness while James Worpel (AF $608k SC $418k MID) was withdrawn on Friday with an ankle injury.

GWS Giants v Richmond

David Astbury (AF $397k SC $327k DEF) was a late out for the Tigers with a quad issue. Neither side used their sub.
