Matthew Flynn (AF $463k SC $422k RUCK) has been dropped for GWS, while there’s no immediate return for Suns ruckman Zac Smith (AF $394k SC $299k RUCK).

Matthew Parker (AF $308k SC $141k M/F) also misses out, despite a positive appraisal from Tigers coach Damien Hardwick in the morning. He said: “He’s been pretty impressive, he’s winning the ball at the lower level, he wins contests, he chases, tackles, he’s still learning how we play.”

Potential Pies debutant Jack Ginnivan (AF $170k SC $102k M/F) missed out. Collingwood coach Rob Harvey said earlier in the day: “He’s put himself right in the frame and has been in discussions for a number of weeks. Jack is an exciting small forward and is getting closer by the week.”

UPDATES

Dogs coach Luke Beveridge was asked about debutant Jamarra Ugle-Hagan (AF $270k SC $207k FWD), who seems over-priced to most.

Beveridge said: “He’s really worked hard. He’s a determined young fella… We’re confident that he’ll get through the four quarters & it will be exciting to see him wear the red, white & blue.”

Sydney ruck coach Dean Cox offered some kind words on youngster Joel Amartey (AF $347k SC $256k F/R) which arguably reinforces his job security.

Cox told afl.com.au: “He is dynamic, he’s explosive, he’s powerful. His ability to fly for the ball & take contested marks but also be able to follow up at ground level has been a really good point of difference.”

Port also confirmed Zak Butters (AF $616k SC $501k M/F) will miss a month following his injury on Thursday night.

The club update said: “Will spend about a month on the sidelines after scans confirmed he had sprained the medial ligament in his right knee.”
