R13 Rolling Injury Report: Reeves ankle, Edwards & Highmore praise, Fyfe update

Stay up to date throughout the round with our rolling injury report from the coaches post-game. With the seven-game round extending from Thursday night through until Monday afternoon, these snippets of info will be key.
Melbourne v Collingwood
Nathan Murphy (AF $301k SC $197k DEF) was subbed out for the Pies with a corkie.
West Coast v Richmond
Neither side used a sub but West Coast coach Adam Simpson praised a few of his youngsters, namely Luke Edwards (AF $189k SC $117k MID). Simpson said: “Second game, he had 9-10 touches in the last, looked composed with the ball, he might get a Rising Star nomination!”
Simpson also paid credit to Harry Edwards (AF $257k SC $203k DEF), when he said: “He’s a 5-6 gamer who’s holding down a key position defence albeit on another younger player. I thought he he had his moments as well.”
Richmond coach Damien Hardwick was asked about Callum Coleman-Jones (AF $391k SC $161k F/R) playing alongside Tom Lynch, offering something to his job security. He said: “I think so. They’re both wonderful players… I’d be hoping those guys can play in the same side.”
North Melbourne v GWS Giants
Neither side used a sub. GWS coach Leon Cameron praised Nick Haynes (AF $445k SC $304k DEF). He said: “Nick is working his way back into form. I thought as the game went on he got better and better… He’s been out of form a bit earlier in the year but he definitely got going.”
St Kilda v Adelaide
Hunter Clark (AF $579k SC $385k D/M*) was subbed out and Saints coach Brett Ratten said he thinks it is a broken jaw. Ratten said: “We had to take him off, he’ll miss some footy, I think.”
He also spoke about the potential return of Rowan Marshall (AF $648k SC $497k F/R) from a foot injury. Ratten said: “The Marshall one is interesting. He’ll be close… But they’ve missed so much footy. Marshall, if he’s available, we’ll pick him.”
Ratten also praised Tom Highmore (AF $295k SC $186k DEF) after a breakout display. He said: “There’s some shining lights. I think Highmore’s 1st quarter was outstanding. For a young player in his 3rd-4th game, he came in & did a really good job.”
Fremantle v Gold Coast
Dockers coach Justin Longmuir offered an update on Nat Fyfe‘s (AF $659k SC $538k M/F*) shoulder. He said: “He’s hopefully going to be able to play. He gets a bye now to get another week off. Short-term it looks pretty good… He’s doing everything he can.”
Matt Rowell (AF $536k SC $495k MID) got through his first game back from injury. Gold Coast coach Stuart Dew said: “He’s going to be better for the run. He’s an important player for us. For him to get through the game, we can be happy about that.”
Sam Collins (AF $410k SC $363k DEF) was a late withdrawal for the Suns.
Sydney v Hawthorn
Jake Lloyd (AF $735k SC $557k DEF) spent some time on the bench in the second quarter with a worry but played the game out.
Swans coach Longmire said: “Those two boys (Lloyd & Cunningham) were pretty sore. Harry had a hip pointer. Lloydy was a bit sore, we didn’t get that usual bounce from that part of the ground.”
Will Hayward was subbed off after a heavy bump. Swans coach John Longmire said he “seems OK”.
Young Hawks ruckman Ned Reeves (AF $245k SC $123k RUCK) was a late withdrawal after suffering an ankle tweak at training on Thursday.
Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson said: “He was really close to playing. He only did it yesterday. He had a little bit of swelling… We’ll let that settle, assess next week and see if he’s right for next week’s game.”
Jon Ceglar (AF $506k SC $369k F/R) stepped in in Reeves’ absence and impressed. Clarkson said: “He was really, really strong in the contest for us. For as long as he plays like that he’ll continue to play in the side.”
Debutant Jai Newcombe (AF $170k SC $102k MID) also impressed, particularly with his tackling. Clarkson added: “He had more tackles than possessions but that was the sort of intensity that we needed to play with… We were really pleased with Newcombe’s game.”
Port Adelaide v Geelong
Todd Marshall (AF $422k SC $336k FWD) was subbed out early concussed for Port, while Geelong didn’t use their sub.
