Patrick Dangerfield (AF $748k SC $611k M/F) returned after his ankle injury in a significant addition for the Cats, but there is no Cam Guthrie (AF $840k SC $609k MID).

Geelong coach Chris Scott said: “The bye probably came at a good time for him. The fact he had an extra week of training under his belt and with his teammates is important. The extra week has really helped Pat and he’s more than ready.”

On Guthrie, Scott added: “He won’t make the trip. It’s still the same issue. It just didn’t come on as well as we would’ve liked. With some of the guys coming back, we didn’t think it was prudent to push him. He’ll play next week.”

Port coach Ken Hinkley confirmed that Boyd Woodcock (AF $403k SC $259k FWD) will be their medical sub and not Martin Frederick (AF $262k SC $172k DEF) who was named as an emergency.
