The outs are set to hurt coaches this week. Many come through the form of a rookie. Popular forward option Jy Farrar (AF $368k SC $243k FWD) will miss with a quad injury.  The Gold Coast update said: “Jy Farrar has also sustained a quad injury and will miss this week’s match.”

Other key rookie omissions include Rhyan Mansell (AF $262k SC $176k DEF), Ronin O’Connor (AF 185k SC $123k MID) and Tom Highmore (AF $268k SC $167k DEF).

Orazio Fantasia (AF $465k SC $284k D/F) will miss due to him managing a minor leg complaint.

But on the flipside there was big returns and holds including Josh Treacy (AF $204k SC $108 F/R), Hugo Ralphsmith (AF $176k SC $123k M/F), Ryan Byrnes (AF $276k SC $159k MID), Matthew Flynn (AF $451k SC $316k RUCK) and Alec Waterman (AF $256k SC $148k FWD) who is named in Essendon’s 22 for their Sunday game.

DEBUTANT ALERT

UPDATES

The Fremantle Dockers were the big news story of the day as young gun Andy Brayshaw (AF $724k SC $514k MID) was flagged to miss just one week with a surprise calf complaint.

Dockers coach Justin Longmuir said: “Andy looks like he gave his calf a bit of a tweak so he will be touch & go. Which is a bit disappointing. He will likely be out this week.”

On a positive note, Luke Ryan (AF $623k SC $540k DEF) is finally locked in ready to face the Swans this weekend.

Longmuir said: "Luke Ryan will come into the side. He got through training really well yesterday.”

After mixed messages from the Blues’ camp, Patrick Cripps (AF $616k SC $411k MID) is said to be all good ready to go for the weekend.

Carlton coach David Teague said: "He's pretty good. He manages his body. We don't have every player do every training session. He'll play this week. He's ready to go.”

Other big ins include Dan Houston (AF $619k SC $452k DEF) for the Power as well as Lachie Hunter (AF $632k SC $459k M/F) for the Dogs. Hunter had surgery on a broken hand just 10 days ago however will take the field this Saturday against the Saints.
