Matthew Wade, Tim Paine, Sean Abbott and Moises Henriques are among the big name Test inclusions while Mitch Marsh faces a fitness test for Perth although he’s reportedly close.
SQUAD NEWS
Matthew Wade ($181k BAT/WKP) and Tim Paine ($90k WKP/BAT) have both been added to the Hurricanes squad to play the Scorchers on Friday, after joining the hub in Melbourne on Wednesday.
Wade appears a lock to play but Paine is no certainty given his lack of T20 cricket in recent times. Hurricanes teammate Peter Handscomb said on Thursday: “He’s in the squad so he’s definitely in calculations but like you said he hasn’t played Big Bash for a while.
“We’ll wait and see but ultimately that’s up to the coaches & selectors to make a decision.”
Hurricanes squad: Boland, David, Ellis, Handscomb, Jacks, Lamichhane, Malan, McDermott, Meredith, Moody, Owen, Paine, Parker, Short, Wade, Winter, Wright
The Scorchers named a 16-man squad to play the Hurricanes, with Mitch Marsh ($172k BAT/BWL) the big inclusion after a side strain, although he faces a fitness test.
Perth’s squad has been named for both Friday’s Hobart game and Saturday’s clash with the Stars, so it’s foreseeable Marsh may only play the latter, pending fitness.
Scorchers teammate Jason Behrendorff said on Thursday: “He’s been batting the last couple of days in the nets which has been positive and he did some gym work and some running. I think he’s starting to tick all those boxes. Mitch will say he’s ready to go and I think he’ll be close.”
Scorchers squad: Turner, Fawad Ahmed, Bancroft, Behrendorff, Hardie, Inglis, Kelly, Livingstone, Marsh, Munro, Paris, Patterson, Richardson, Rocchiccioli, Roy, Tye
The Sydney Sixers named their entire 19-man squad to play the Thunder on Friday, with Test pair Sean Abbott ($219k BWL) and Moises Henriques ($100k BAT/BWL) included after being granted exemptions by the SA government.
Sixers squad: Abbott, Avendano, Ball, Bertus, Bird, Brathwaite, Christian, Dwarshuis, J.Edwards, Henriques, Hughes, Kerr, Manenti, O’Keefe, Philippe, Pope, Sandhu, Silk, Vince
Daniel Sams ($205k BAT/BWL) is out of the Thunder squad, with an 18-man squad named to play the Sixers.
Thunder squad: Ferguson, Billings, Cook, Cutting, Davies, Doggett, Green, Gikes, Hales, Holt, Khawaja, McAndrew, Milne, Nair, Ross, J.Sangha, T.Sangha, Tremain

UPDATES
Morne Morkel ($144k BWL) was X-factored out of Thursday night’s game and Heat coach Darren Lehmann explained on 7Cricket: “Morne Morkel is fine, just a bit sore.”
The Stars are yet to confirm it but it looks like Andre Fletcher ($92k WKP/BAT) is done for BBL|10 after suffering a reported thigh injury. He was due to leave on January 24 anyway, but will likely now miss Saturday’s game against Perth.
FRIDAY
We’ll have a double-header to finish off Round 11 before Round 12 starts on Saturday with another double-header with Renegades-Heat and Stars-Scorchers.
Of those sides, all but the Scorchers have been naming their squads on the day of the game. Perth’s squad for Friday’s game, is also their squad for Saturday’s game.
