Green cleared for Thunder, Faulkner setback, Jacks set for different role

Chris Green has been cleared to return for the Sydney Thunder, while James Faulkner suffered a setback for the Hurricanes and the Renegades revealed Jack Prestwidge’s hip injury.


The Sydney Thunder named a 19-man squad, including Chris Green ($161k BWL), to play the Hobart Hurricanes on Monday night.

Green missed last game with a minor calf issue, but Thunder coach Shane Bond said: “Chris is fully fit. He’s had a scan and it showed all is fine; he’s available for selection.”

The Hurricanes have named a 15-man squad with Will Jacks ($109k BAT/BWL) coming in for the departed Colin Ingram ($96k BAT).

Speaking about Jacks, Canes coach Adam Griffith told RSN Breakfast: “There will be a bit of a change in personnel with Ingram out and Jacks coming back in. He’ll play a bit of a different role up the top there to give us a spark.”

Griffith also revealed James Faulkner ($181k BWL) had had a setback in his recovery from a hamstring injury.

He said: “He had another little bit of a setback yesterday at training. He tightened up his hamstring. Fingers crossed we get him back towards the end of the tournament.”

Jack Prestwidge ($122k BAT/BWL) missed the Melbourne Derby on Sunday, with the Renegades confirming it was due to injury.

The Gades said in a statement: “Jack Prestwidge was ruled out of tonight’s game with a hip complaint. He should be available for our next match on Wednesday.”


We’ll learn the squads for Tuesday’s Round 10 final game between the Heat and Scorchers, while the Canes and Thunder will do battle.
