UPDATES

The situation with the BBL’s Afghan trio seems to change every day but the latest is they’ll all be available until approximately January 15.

The Heat reiterated this when discussing Mujeeb Ur Rahman ($204k BWL) who is expected to play games on Sunday 10 January and Thursday 14 January before departing for Afghanistan-Ireland ODI series.

Heat teammate Lewis Gregory ($180k BAT/BWL) said: “He will be missed, if he is off in a few games. He’s amazing at what he does.”

The Hurricanes offered an update on Riley Meredith ($166k BWL) after he was a late withdrawal from Thursday’s loss to the Thunder, clarifying later they expect him to play next game.

Canes coach Adam Griffith said: “He’s fallen on his ribs a couple of times… He’s got a bit of a bruise there. We thought he was OK. In the warm-up when he was trying to go flat chat he was no good… Riley will obviously come back in.”

Griffith also backed D’Arcy Short ($158k BAT/BWL) to find his form and said he wouldn’t be dropping down the order.

Griffith said: “We’ve got the utmost faith in D’Arcy. The best spot for him is up the top. He was actually hitting them OK until he got out. He’s just got to spend a bit more time at the crease.”

TOMORROW

We’ll learn the squads for Saturday’s Scorchers-Thunder game, but Daniel Sams ($199k BAT/BWL) has been ruled out.
