Chris Lynn appears set to miss three weeks according to reports, while the Strikers are hopeful about Rashid Khan’s fitness and Marcus Stoinis will definitely not play on Boxing Day.

Sydney Thunder confirmed an extended 18-man squad for their Boxing Day match against the Melbourne Renegades, although the latter made no announcement until Saturday morning.

The Thunder included Alex Ross ($104k BAT) despite suffering a groin strain last week and missing their last game. His potential inclusion may impact Oliver Davies ($56k BAT) who impressed on debut.

The Renegades hadn’t confirmed any squad news at midnight on Christmas Day, but Imad Wasim ($160k BAT/BWL) is available and could debut after completing Pakistan duty in New Zealand.

They’ve since confirmed Imad is included in an 18-man squad, forcing young spinner Noor Ahmad ($68k BWL) due to not being permitted more than three imports.

On Christmas Eve, the Sydney Sixers confirmed their 16-man squad for their Boxing Day game against the Melbourne Stars, with no surprises.

The Stars are confirmed their squad on Saturday, with Marcus Stoinis ($168k BAT/BWL) and Nic Maddinson ($83k BAT) both unavailable.

On Stoinis, Stars coach David Hussey said: “He’s in Perth. He’s been away since May. Marcus is close with his mum and his sister and wanted to spend a week with them. He’ll miss tomorrow’s game but will re-join the group on the 28th to play.”

Zahir Khan ($129k BWL) appears set to finally debut. Hussey said: “He’s joined the squad after quarantining up here in Queensland. He had his first hit-out at Gold Coast Cricket Club the other day and he looked really good. He spins the ball both ways.”

The Stars also confirmed Dilbar Hussain ($72k BWL) won’t be returning in BBL|10 due to his hamstring injury. He’s returned to Pakistan.

The Sixers provided an update on the calf injury for Jackson Bird ($127k BWL), with a statement claiming he’s “nearing a return from a calf injury suffered whilst playing for Australia A earlier this month.”

They also confirmed English fast bowler Jake Ball ($125k BWL) would be available for their December 29 game after completing quarantine.

UPDATES

The Brisbane Heat haven’t provided an official update on Chris Lynn’s ($135k BAT) hamstring injury, after stating he was due to go for scans on Christmas after sustaining the injury in the warm-up of their game on December 23.

But the Courier Mail reported on Christmas Day that he’d been diagnosed with a low grade hamstring strain and was ruled out for at least three weeks, with a view to returning for their January 14 game against the Renegades.

Also the Courier Mail stated Morne Morkel ($138k BWL) won’t play until next month with an ankle issue which has kept him out all season.

There’s been no update forthcoming from the Strikers on Rashid Khan ($166k BWL), but Adelaide Advertiser sports reporter Andrew Capel claimed on Christmas Eve the club were hopeful he’d be fit for Monday’s game against the Scorchers.
