TEAM NEWS

Ins: Dan Hannebery, Jake Carlisle, Stephen Coniglio, Jake Riccardi

Outs: Zak Jones (injured), Nick Hind, Harry Himmelberg, Adam Kennedy

Stephen Coniglio (AF $663k SC $463k MID) gets a reprieve only one round after being dropped, while Jake Riccardi (AF $381k SC $256k FWD) returns after being managed.

GWS coach Leon Cameron said: “We’ll welcome Stephen back into the side. We understand it was a big decision last week to leave him out but he’s freshened up, trained really well and is looking forward to playing the footy we know he can.

“Jake also comes back in after being managed last week. He’s had a great start to his footy career but played four games in a very short amount of time so we think the game off will hold him in really good stead to come in and compete in Friday night footy.

ROOKIE FLAG

Richmond will be forced into a few changes due to injury and as a result may elevate a debutant in Ben Miller (AF $170k SC $123k DEF).

Tigers coach Damien Hardwick said: “We’ve got a few options available. There’s a young boy called Ben Miller who we’ve been impressed with who might be a sneaky chance.”

Ivan Soldo and Tom Lynch have already been ruled out due to injury, while Shai Bolton (AF $589k SC $441k MID) will now also miss with a calf issue.

Hardwick said: “Shai had a corked calf that probably hasn’t responded as well as we would’ve liked. He won’t play this week. We’d rather take the cautious approach.”

Shane Edwards (AF $516k SC $428k DEF/MID) and Mabior Chol (AF $321k SC $312k RUCK/FWD) appear certain to return.

CATS BACK

Geelong coach Chris Scott confirmed on AFL 360 that Joel Selwood (AF $501k SC $375k MID) and Gary Ablett (AF $553k SC $417k FWD) will return for their Round 18 clash with Sydney.

Scott said on Selwood: “He’ll definitely play too. We held him up a lot in previous weeks… it’s been a really well considered decision to hold him up.”

On Ablett, Scott said: “Yeah for sure (he’ll play) that’s always been our plan… having seen him in the flesh, he’ll certainly play and I’m very confident he’ll play well.”
