Bulldogs confirm another debutant, Rozee update, Greene to return

The Western Bulldogs announced another debutant on Tuesday, while the GWS Giants reassured coaches that Toby Greene will return and there was good news for Connor Rozee.

POSITIVE POWER
Port Adelaide provided an interesting update today, with popular midfield/forward Connor Rozee (AF $520k SC $369k MID/FWD*) to undergo a fitness test after hurting his heel against Carlton.

Port said that Scott Lycett (AF $645k SC $538k RUCK) is “progressing well after missing the Round 7 win over Carlton with a minor PCL sprain in his knee”.

Ryan Burton (AF $541k SC $375k DEF) and Steven Motlop (AF $436k SC $310k FWD) have both been ruled out of Port’s Round Eight match with St Kilda with quad and ankle injuries respectively.

DEBUTANTS
The Western Bulldogs announced their fifth debutant for the year with 21-year-old 182cm midfielder Callum Porter (AF $170k SC $123k MID) selected to play Gold Coast on Thursday.

Porter has been in the system a few years and was pick 74 in the 2017 AFL Draft. He’s a midfielder who can play as a half-back or forward.

GREENE LIGHT
The GWS Giants are confident Toby Greene (AF $656k SC $471k FWD) will return against Richmond on Friday night after missing Round Seven with shin soreness.

GWS Head of Medical Cullan Ball said: “Toby just pulled up a little bit sore in his shin after main training last week and just didn’t quite come good in time for the game.

“We expect he’ll be fine for this week, as long as he trains fully he’ll be good to go.”

OTHERS
Luke Shuey
(AF $671k SC $507k MID) looks like a certainty to return for West Coast against Collingwood. Eagles Football GM Craig Vozzo said: “If he gets through training, which we highly expect him to, he will be available to play against Collingwood this week.”

Jack Silvagni (AF $424k SC $280k FWD) will miss another game for Carlton due to a knee problem. Blues Director of HP Andrew Russell said: “Jack Silvagni irritated his ITB as it’s known. We probably won’t play him this week: he’ll probably miss one or two games. We’ll build him back up to play again.”

Richmond confirmed Josh Caddy (AF $509k SC $367k MID/FWD) has suffered a “medium-term hamstring injury” which will sideline him for an extended period of time.

Sydney’s Lance Franklin (AF $523k SC $394k FWD) still has a “fair way to go” with his hamstring injury according to Swans coach John Longmire.

Hawthorn’s Jarman Impey (AF $530k SC $402k DEF) looms as a cheap defensive option with the Hawks saying he’s clear to returning after an ACL injury.

Essendon’s Cale Hooker (AF $469k SC $420k DEF) will miss the next fortnight with a calf strain.

TOMORROW
John Worsfold, Luke Beveridge and Leon Cameron will all address the media, while we’ll get Thursday’s teams for Gold Coast-Western Bulldogs.
