North Melbourne ruckman Tristan Xerri has been sent straight to the AFL Tribunal for serious misconduct after the AFL Match Review Saturday report was announced.
Xerri was involved in an ugly incident where he put blood from his nose on Essendon captain Andrew McGrath’s face in the second quarter.
The AFL Match Review report cited it as “serious misconduct”, sending it “direct to tribunal”.
The sanction is “to be determined via Tribunal Hearing” on either Monday or Tuesday evening.
There are some precedents of incidents involving blood, including one from 2002 when Nathan Buckley wiped his bloodied face on Cameron Ling’s jersey, leading to a one-game ban.
