Nathan McSweeney has been ruled out of the Brisbane Heat’s second game of their Round 2 double due to an ankle injury, but Max Bryant looks set to play.
Nathan McSweeney exited Friday’s win over Perth after picking up an ankle injury while attempting a catch in the field.
He wasn’t named in Brisbane’s 13-player squad for Monday’s clash with the Sydney Thunder, with the Heat update stating: “McSweeney will consult with a specialist this week to map out his likely timeline to return to play for the Heat and will miss tomorrow night’s clash with the Thunder.”
Max Bryant has been named despite retiring hurt with a shoulder issue against Perth.
The Heat update said: “Bryant (is) recovering well from a shoulder injury scare on Friday that saw him aggravate an old injury during the frantic final stages of the Heat’s remarkable run chase against the Perth Scorchers.”
Tom Alsop returns from a knee injury to be named in the 13-player squad, with Oli Patterson omitted. Michael Neser remains unavailable with the Australia Test squad.

Sixers all-rounder Jack Edwards was asked about Sean Abbott’s return from a hamstring injury. He said: “He brings a wealth of experience and skill. He’s a massive for us in all 3 aspects of the game.
“Super excited to see him back out there. We’ve been missing him. He’s a great man to have around the group. Been nice to have him in the dugout in the last few games and see him out in the field on Boxing Day hopefully.”
