Glenn Maxwell starred with quickfire scores of 48 and 74 for Fitzroy Doncaster as several Melbourne Stars warmed up for BBL|15 with game-time in Victoria Premier Cricket T20s on Saturday.
There was a double round of Vic T20s on Saturday, with morning games starting at 10am followed by afternoon games from 3pm.
Maxwell took up the opportunity with Fitzroy Doncaster against Doncaster, posting 48 from 22 batting at 5 in the morning game, including 2 fours and 5 sixes. He also bowled 4 overs, finishing with 0-21.
In the afternoon, Maxwell blasted 74 from 32, with 6 fours and 6 sixes batting again at 5. He bowled another 4 overs, finishing with 0-34.
Sam Harper pushed his case for selection, opening the batting for Melbourne with scores of 64* from 37 and 16 from 5.
Campbell Kellaway batted 3 for Melbourne, scoring 40 from 27 and 34 from 23. He also bowled, taking 1-8 from 2 and 0-10 from 1.
Jono Merlo made scores of 3* from 3 batting at 4, then 38 from 33 at 5 for Melbourne, taking 2-27 from 4 and 0-32 from 3.
Stars opening contender Tom Rogers blasted his way to 89 from 56 balls for Ringwood in the morning, adding 51 from 33 as opener in the afternoon to boost his chances.
Stars spinner Hamish McKenzie didn’t bowl in Camberwell’s first game, then scored 52 from 34 at 3, before taking 1-9 from 2.1 overs in the afternoon.
Renegades hopeful Michael Archer took 4-18 for Carlton and then 2-25. Harry Dixon (24 from 19 and golden duck in super over) was the only other Renegades player in action, hinting neither will play on Monday.
