SuperCoach is open for BBL|15 and we’ve analysed some of the best picks for your starting squad, looking at value, form, pedigree and the fixture.
Mitch Owen $192k BAT/BWL
The Hurricanes are the reigning champions with 5 games in the first 3 rounds and this guy is coming off a dominant breakout season, followed by an Aussie debut and a Player of the Series display in Major League Cricket. Yep, he’s a bit expensive but he’s proven worthy. His role is ideal too, opening the batting and bowling a few overs. And the fixture is perfect. Lock and captain.
Riley Meredith $130k BWL
You’ve got to load up on Hurricanes early on, given their fixture so it’s a question of whom? Meredith is coming off an excellent English summer where he took loads of wickets, along with a brilliant BBL|14 where his impact went under the radar, finishing with 16 wickets – second most in the comp.
Ben Dwarshuis $146k BWL
Developed into a genuine all-rounder and pretty stiff to not get DPP status, to be honest. Will bowl death overs and bat late overs, having been elevated a few times last BBL. The guy is a wicket-taker, snagging 14 in 11 games last season. Round 1 double, easy pick.
Sean Abbott $133k BWL
Hugely under-priced given his capability, having averaged 70.8 and 85.3 in the past. Big question mark is if he’ll be in and out of the Ashes Test squad, which is where Pat Cummins’ fitness will have a ripple-on effect. If playing, Abbott is a reliable wicket-taker and handy in the field.
Jack Edwards $113k BAT/BWL
Generous price for a player who might have one of the best roles in the game, potentially batting top 3 in Steve Smith’s absence and bowling 4 overs, including some power play and death. Player on the rise. Lock him in with that Round 1 double.
Michael Neser $93k BAT/BWL
The SuperCoach gods are being far too kind with this price for a gun all-rounder with a Round 2 double. Didn’t quite fire last year, with injury affecting him, but has averaged 60+ before. Monitor if he’s in the mix for the Test squad which impact his availability or continuity.
Daniel Sams $116k BAT/BWL
Another gift from the SuperCoach gods. Thunder all-rounder with excellent SC pedigree with a Round 2 double at a generous price. Obviously last season with injury effected after that big collision. Slight watch on his role, and if he’s still bowling death. Batting slot has slid.
Shadab Khan $117k BAT/BWL
Excellent Pakistani international spinning all-rounder, who likely comes in at 6 to smack a few late-over runs. He’ll also relish the spin-friendly conditions at Sydney Showground.
Joe Clarke $68k BAT/WKP
Didn’t play much at all last year but should be a regular in BBL|15, taking gloves and open the batting. Good role and a Round 3 double around the corner. May solve the keeper issue.
Aaron Hardie $74k BAT/BWL
Hardie is the SuperCoach’s gods’ piece de resistance. Yep, had an injury impacted BBL|14 where he never re-discovered his form, but this guy is an international all-rounder, likely to bat 3 and bowl 2-4 overs each game. Round 4 double too. Pure gift.
