The Melbourne Renegades have rounded out their 18-player squad for BBL|15 with the addition of all-rounder Will Salzmann and re-signing of fast bowler Gurinder Sandhu.
Talented 21-year-old Salzmann is a product of the NSW system, having been born and raised in Sydney’s south-west. He has been widely regarded as one of the country’s brightest young prospects and involved with the Sydney Thunder over the past 2 seasons.
He represented Australia at the 2022 ICC Under-19 World Cup and has featured in the Marsh One-Day Cup over the past two summers, including a standout match-winning performance against defending champions Western Australia when he claimed 4/48 and hit the winning runs.

A powerful middle-order option and skilful seamer, Salzmann now makes the move south to take the next step in his career with the Renegades.
“I’m pumped to be joining the Renegades and adding to this young and exciting group,” Salzmann said.
“I’ve loved my time developing through the NSW system and now I’m keen to test myself in a new environment, learn from some experienced players, and hopefully make an impact for the Gades this season.”
Renegades General Manager James Rosengarten said Salzmann was an outstanding addition to the club’s emerging core.
“Will’s an impressive young cricketer with great character and has really honed his craft at domestic level over the past few seasons,” Rosengarten said.
“He’s shown his potential at state level and has already delivered in pressure moments. We see him as someone who can contribute to the team immediately this season and also grow into a key player for us over the next few years.”
Sandhu crossed to the Renegades last season and was a valuable addition to the squad, taking three wickets in his two appearances including a wicket with his first ball in red at the MCG.
The 32-year-old right-armer exudes experience and composure, having played more than 78 T20 games across his career including a stint with the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League.
He’s also represented Australia in the white ball format. He’s got 77 wickets to his name, at an average of 26 and an economy of 8.10, and is renowned for his skill with the ball in high-pressure overs.
Sandhu’s presence adds to a Renegades’ pace attack boasting the two leading wicket-takers in BBL|14 in Jason Behrendorff and Tom Rogers as well as skipper Will Sutherland and new recruit Brendan Doggett.
“The Renegades have been a great environment to be part of, I’ve really enjoyed my time here and I’m excited to build on what we started last season,” Sandhu said.
“We’ve got a good mix of youth and experienced players, and I’m looking forward to contributing wherever I can.”
Rosengarten said Sandhu’s experience and professionalism continue to make him an asset to the squad.
“Gurinder’s been a reliable performer for a long time in Australian cricket,” Rosengarten said.
“He brings great energy to our group, plays a big role for us, and helps set standards for the whole bowling group coming through.”
