Adelaide Strikers captain Matthew Short has undergone finger surgery following an injury sustained playing in Australia’s ODI against India in Adelaide last Thursday.
Short suffered a severe cut on his right ring finger, although medical staff patched him up before he made a team-high 74. He played in Saturday’s third ODI in Sydney, making 30 and bowling 4 overs.
But Short underwent the procedure on Monday to clean up his finger and have stitches put in to hold together the wound below his nail.
It isn’t expected to impact Short’s BBL|15 availability, with Australia selectors still hopeful he’ll return during the upcoming five-game T20I series against India.

There’s been a few injury updates during the series, with Ben Dwarshuis ruled out for the first three T20Is with a calf strain.
Josh Inglis is set to return in Wednesday’s opener in Canberra from his own calf injury, along with Sean Abbott after splitting the webbing in his hand in the Shield.
Stars all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is also in contention to return following a broken arm but likely they won’t be until game three.
