Perth Scorchers opening batsman Finn Allen’s availability for BBL|15 remains a watch with the New Zealander still sidelined with a foot stress fracture.
Allen hasn’t played since sustaining the injury late in the Major League Cricket season with San Francisco Unicorns in early July.
It was revealed in August that the big hitter had undergone surgery on the issue, with an expected recovery period of three months.
New Zealand named its ODI squad for a three-game series against England earlier this week, with Allen still sidelined with the foot injury.
Sydney Thunder quick Lockie Ferguson is also out with a hamstring injury, having had his IPL campaign earlier this year ended by a similar problem.
Ferguson had returned to action during the English summer, playing 8 games and taking 7 wickets for the Trent Rockets in The Hundred.
One familiar name in the New Zealand T20 squad for the now completed series is Melbourne Renegades wicketkeeper Tim Seifert.
Seifert’s selection is interesting given New Zealand will play a three-game ODI series (January 11-18) followed by a five-game T20 series (January 21-31) against India during BBL.
Seifert was only selected in New Zealand’s T20 squad against England, as they prepare to build towards the 2026 T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka starting February 7.
BBL|15 starts on December 15, so selection in those squads wouldn’t impact availability until mid-to-late in the season.
