The Hobart Hurricanes will have Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain fully available in BBL|15 after being denied a clearance to play last season.
The Canes drafted Rishad for BBL|14 but he didn’t play a game after the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) opted against issuing him a No-Objection Clearance to play in the T20 league.
However, 12 months on, the BCB has granted Rishad’s request after Hobart again drafted him as one of their three overseas imports.
“Ponting was one of my favorite players growing up; I used to watch him play. I’m really looking forward to working with him,” Rishad said in a Zoom interview with reporters on Monday.
“More than the players, I’m looking forward to working with Ricky Ponting and playing under his coaching.”
Rishad will join English pair Rehan Ahmed and Chris Jordan as Hobart’s three imports as they chase back-to-back titles.
On his own role, Rishad said: “As a leg-spinner, my job is to take wickets after the power play. I hope to continue that in Hobart.”
Hobart’s spinners Paddy Dooley and Peter Hatzoglou struggled to make any impact in BBL|14, while import Waqar Salamkheil was economical.
BBL|15 begins on December 14, with SuperCoach BBL expected to open later this month.
