The SuperCoach BBL fixture will be confirmed when the game opens in late October, so in the meantime, Honeyball’s Nathan Scoble has drafted a likely fixture.
The draft SuperCoach schedule involves 10 rounds/gameweeks, with eight byes and eight doubles, but no triples this year.
Scobes has also done a huge job, laying out the looping planner, listing when sides would play in each round, which comes in handy for NPP/nuff and VC/C planning.
Key features
Sixers Round 1 double
Assuming the draft schedule is accurate, SuperCoaches will need to focus on Sydney Sixers players with a Round 1 double.
Imports Babar Azam and Sam Curran will be very tempting for SuperCoaches, given their pedigree, although expect both to be priced at $180k. Also, Curran is set to be unavailable for Round 1 as he’s contracted to play in the ILT20 until early January.
Sean Abbott and Ben Dwarshuis are perennial SC premiums as wicket-takers, while all-rounder Jack Edwards and wicketkeeper-opening batsman Josh Philippe will need to be considered given their roles.
Dwarshuis is probably the one to lock in on, with his death-overs role and increasing ability to hit quick runs in a late-overs batting role. With Curran out early, Edwards could enjoy a nice role, bowling 4 overs and batting 6-7.
With the fixture dropping this is what I believe the #SuperCoachBBL fixture will look like!
Obviously it has potential to change and we all know how they love to throw a spanner in the works, but it looks as if Perth will not have a DGW nor a bye!Below the initial fixture is… https://t.co/QwbUT2xo0A pic.twitter.com/Lf1nLHsP0I

Stars Round 1 bye / Round 3 double
Note, under the draft schedule, the Sixers have a Round 3 bye, so don’t overload on them and build some plans to get Melbourne Stars, such as Glenn Maxwell and Tom Curran, into your side after their Round 1 bye for their Round 3 double.
Hurricanes Round 2 double
The reigning champions appear to have a perfect fixture, with a Round 2 double and no bye until the final round. However, their BBL|14 success means it’s likely most guns will be priced high.
Big-hitting opener and BBL|14 revelation Mitch Owen will be a popular pick, while Chris Jordan has the plumb all-rounder role and always manages fielding points.
Nathan Ellis is an economical wicket-taker who bowls death overs so must be considered, along with Nikhil Chaudhary given his all-round role. Caleb Jewell performed well in England’s T20 Blast this year, so could be a cheaper option if batting in the top 3.
They’ve also recruited Beau Webster and Jake Weatherald which might impact their top 6 order, although monitor their status as they could be involved with the Ashes Test squad.
Thunder Round 4 double
Round 4 is a long way away, so we won’t lean into the Thunder too much, except for gun Indian import Ravi Ashwin who will be fully available all campaign after he wasn’t selected in the ILT20 Auction recently. Ashwin is likely to be priced $180k or more, but he’ll relish playing on the spin-friendly Sydney Showgrounds and Canberra wickets from Rounds 2-4.
No Scorchers DGW or bye
This is an interesting one. It’s both good and bad, but if there’s a few Scorchers you really like, you could potentially lock and load for the whole season. Perhaps an under-priced Finn Allen if he’s keeping with Josh Inglis on Test duty, or young gun Mahli Beardman with greater opportunity with Jason Behrendorff departed, David Payne unavailable early (ILT20) and Lance Morris out for the season with injury.
