The previous week offered some outstanding performances from SuperCoach captains, with significant scores from standout players like Daicos (177) and Bontempelli (169). As we move into another round, the matchups look promising for further high scores.
Round 21 Vice-Captain Options
Marcus Bontempelli
Bontempelli currently boasts the highest three-round average at 156.3 and a five-round average of 133.0. Although his record against GWS isn’t exceptional, he has managed to achieve captain-worthy scores of 128, 164 and 120 in three of his last six encounters with them. Given his current form, he is a compelling choice for Vice-Captain.
Max Gawn
Gawn is having a quietly impressive All-Australian season, with a three-round average of 128.7. He faces West Coast, a team that has conceded the most SuperCoach points to opposition rucks throughout 2025. Last week, Jackson was the top scorer for Fremantle against West Coast, reinforcing Gawn’s favorable matchup.
Matt Rowell
Rowell holds the fourth-best career average of 109.7 SuperCoach points from six appearances. He also ranks second in both three-round average (153.3) and five-round average (140.8). In their last meeting he scored 130 SuperCoach points. Riding this form could prove beneficial.
Noah Anderson
Anderson is in strong Brownlow contention and faces Richmond this week, a team against which he has an impressive career average of 129.8 from six games. This includes a ceiling score of 154 SuperCoach points and a minimum of 105. His potential for high scores makes him a player to consider.
Round 21 Captain Options
Brody Grundy
Grundy’s performance over the past eleven weeks has been remarkable, yielding scores of 121, 135, 109, 161, 155, 159, 179, 127, 154, 153 and 137. He will face Goldstein this week, where he can leverage the age difference to his advantage.
Nick Daicos
Daicos has displayed impeccable form, with a three-round average of 143.7. He matches up against Brisbane, where he surprisingly has his third-highest career average of 124.4 from five games, including a score of 172 in their last encounter. As another player in Brownlow contention, he is a solid captain option.
Rowan Marshall
This selection is based on the absence of Xerri, allowing Marshall to capitalise. He previously scored 153 points a couple of weeks ago, demonstrating his ability to perform well against the right matchup.
Zac Butters
Butters thrives in tight contests at GMS, holding a career average of 134 from three games. His recent consistent form makes him an appealing captain choice for this round.
