Tuesday’s injury reports are starting to trickle out with key updates across the board to help guide your Round 6 trade targets and trade-outs.
Geelong have declared Tom Stewart will be available to return on Easter Monday against Hawthorn following illness last round.
Cats Executive General Manager of Football Andrew Mackie said: “Tom was a late withdrawal for the game against Adelaide with illness. He is available to play on Easter Monday.”
Jake Kolodjashnij is also available following a groin injury, which could free up Sam De Koning, although Jack Henry’s injury may negate that.
West Coast expects young gun Elijah Hewett to be available for their Good Friday game with Essendon, along with Jeremy McGovern.
High Performance Manager Mat Inness said: “Elijah also got through his session on the weekend and will be available for selection to face the Bombers.”
Sam Lalor is a test to play this round following a hip concern which saw him miss last round. Tigers High Performance Manger Ben Serpell said: “Sammy (Lalor) will be a test this weekend.
“Unfortunately, he pulled up sore following our game against Brisbane where he got a little bit more midfield time. Another day or two he probably would have been alright to go but we will look after him and he will be a test this week.
“He will get through training tomorrow and hopefully be available and a topic for discussion at the selection table later in the week.”
Richmond, however, revealed Harry Armstrong will miss 11-13 weeks with a hamstring injury.
Richmond confirmed Nick Vlastuin had avoided concussion following a head knock from Patrick Voss. Serpell said: “Broken nose for him, I’m sure his girlfriend’s not too happy but doing ok otherwise.”
Serpell clarified that Tom Lynch was subbed out to “manage him” rather than any injury concern.
Marcus Bontempelli is “firming” for a return from a calf injury this Sunday. Bulldogs Head of Sports Medicine Chris Bell said: “Marcus has continued to progress really nicely and build a great volume of work following his complex calf injury.
“He completed a match parameters training session on Saturday and came through really well. His plan is to fully train this week, and if he gets through training like I expect, he’ll return to availability.”
Sydney have now listed a timeframe on Errol Gulden, stating he’s 8-10 weeks away. Callum Mills is listed as 1-2 weeks, with a view to “recommence team training this week”.
Melbourne revealed an injury concern for Kozzy Pickett but expect him to be available in Round 6. Dees High-Performance Manager Selwyn Griffith said: “He was able to integrate into training but didn’t feel completely comfortable during some of the more dynamic movements.
“He completed a straight-line running session, and we’ll continue to modify the start of his week to give him the best chance to train fully and be available.” Griffith also said Steven May would face a fitness test on his plantar fascia concern.
GWS have revealed Brent Daniels (abdominal) and Stephen Coniglio (glute) are “both expected to both miss another week”.
Adelaide listed Josh Rachele as 1-2 weeks following his ribs injury a fortnight ago, with the young gun having “done everything they’ve asked of him”.
Carlton confirmed Brodie Kemp had suffered a season-ending Achilles injury while Harry McKay has entered concussion protocols with a Round 7-8 return. That will impact their key forward options and possibly Tom De Koning’s role within that.
Fremantle listed Luke Jackson (hamstring) as 2 weeks and Nathan O’Driscoll (ankle) as 4 weeks.
Collingwood have declared Jordan De Goey available after missing their last game with inflammation in his ankle/Achilles.
