MCSWEENEY PRAISE
Nathan McSweeney looms as a major trade target for Round 3 with the Brisbane Heat’s double, impressing on his return after being dropped from the Test side.
Heat spinner Mitch Swepson said: “He’s just a brilliant cricketer and sums up situations really well. That’s exactly what he did here tonight.
“He came in, took his time, got the read of the cricket. He almost played that anchor role and when the time came, he put the foot down and he was there at the end.
“He’s just a really smart cricketer, he’s switched on. He’s got great skills. No surprise he had success here tonight.”
BLACK CAPS SQUAD NAMED
New Zealand’s T20I and ODI squads for their upcoming series against Sri Lanka was confirmed on Sunday, with none of the BBL contingent included.
That was largely expected given they’d turned down central contracts, but it’s confirmation that Finn Allen, Lockie Ferguson and Tim Seifert are free to play BBL.
MIR HEADS TO AUSTRALIA
Melbourne Stars spinner Usama Mir finished his Pakistan Champions T20 Cup stint with Lahore City Panthers with some good form taking 4-23 and 1-28 in his final 2 games.
Mir will head to Australia now to link up with the Stars for their Round 3 double, making him a trade-in target. He posted on his Instagram from the plane destined for Australia.
