New Zealand paceman Adam Milne has signed as a replacement player for the Melbourne Stars for the first three matches of BBL|14, replacing Usama Mir.
As reported by Honeyball last month, Pakistan spinner Usama Mir will join the Stars squad after Christmas.
Milne’s availability, however, will be limited given he’s set to link up with the Black Caps for a white-ball series against Sri Lanka just after Christmas. He was part of New Zealand’s ODI squad which faced Sri Lanka last month, although he didn’t play.
With over 180 games of T20 experience around the world, and 53 T20I caps for New Zealand, Milne brings a wealth of experience having played previously for the Sydney Thunder in BBL|10.
Milne recently took 6 wickets in 7 games in the Abu Dhabi T10 League, with an economy rate of 8.78.
Melbourne Stars General Manager Blair Crouch said: “To be able to secure someone of Adam’s talent and experience is a huge boost for the squad for the first three games.
“Adam knows Australian conditions well, we value what he will add to the squad and we look forward to seeing what he can produce.”
Milne’s signing comes along with Joe Clarke’s recruitment to play as cover for Ben Duckett who’ll miss the first 2 games on England Test duty.
The Kiwi’s addition will cause a selection squeeze among their fast bowlers, namely Mark Steketee, Brody Couch, Joel Paris and Peter Siddle, with Scott Boland expected to be out early on Test duty.
