BBL|14 gets underway in under two weeks, with one final round of Sheffield Shield games starting on Friday before clubs get together for their preparation.
With that in mind, Honeyball has collated the list of pre-season fixtures club by club, leading into the BBL season opener between the Perth Scorchers and Melbourne Stars on Sunday 15 December.
Adelaide Strikers
The Strikers’ season opener is on Tuesday 17 December against the Sydney Thunder in Canberra. Prior to that they’ll play the Thunder at ENGIE Stadium in Sydney on Friday 13 December but a few intra-club games in Adelaide involving their Academy players.
Brisbane Heat
The Heat’s first game is Wednesday 18 December in Melbourne. They won’t play any formal pre-season matches, just internal game scenarios and centre wickets with the squad and invited players at the end of next week after the round of Shield games. Non-Shield members Max Bryant and Jack Wood have headed interstate to play T20 games.
Hobart Hurricanes
The Hurricanes have the latest season start date, playing their opener on Thursday 19 December in Geelong against the ‘Gades. Prior to that, they’re expected to play a few intra-clubs between Hurricanes purple and Hurricanes black at NINJA Stadium, starting on Friday.
Melbourne Renegades
The Gades’ season starts on Monday 16 December in Sydney, but they’ll face city rivals, the Melbourne Stars, in the lead-up to that in Melbourne on Thursday 12 December behind closed doors at CitiPower Centre. There might also be a second game planned but nothing is yet locked in. There’s a full round of Victorian Premier Cricket T20s this weekend and next too for tune-ups.
Melbourne Stars
Same as above, they’ll face the ‘Gades on Thursday 12 December behind closed doors, before heading to Perth for their opener on Sunday 15 December. They may expose some non-Shield players to the Vic T20s this weekend.
Perth Scorchers
There is a tight turnaround between the conclusion of WA’s final Shield game – due to finish Monday in Sydney – and their opening BBL|14 game on Sunday in Perth, so the Scorchers will only play a few intra-clubs at the WACA Ground.
Sydney Sixers
The Sixers’ BBL campaign commences on Monday 16 December at home. Typically they face city rivals, the Sydney Thunder, in the lead-up to BBL but there’s nothing yet known.
Sydney Thunder
The Thunder’s season starts on Tuesday 17 December in Canberra against the Strikers, who’ll they play in a warm-up at ENGIE Stadium in Sydney on Friday 13 December.
