Brisbane Heat fast bowler Michael Neser faces a race against time to prove his fitness for the start of BBL|14 after scans confirmed a hamstring strain.
Neser exited Australia A’s game with India A last week and didn’t return after suffering the injury while bowling.
Queensland Cricket have now confirmed Neser will miss 4-6 weeks, meaning he’ll be touch and go for the Heat’s season opener on Wednesday 18 December against the Melbourne Stars at the MCG.
The Heat star, who is listed as an all-rounder at $175k in SuperCoach, averaged 59.4 SC points across 8 games last season despite some injury concerns.
Brisbane has a Round 3 double, making them vaguely relevant for starting squads.
The Heat’s double starts on Boxing Day, so Neser’s availability will be important for that.
