The final squads for January-February’s 2025 ILT20 were recently confirmed, with a fair bit of fresh carnage for BBL|14 squads including Tom Curran and Tim Seifert which will impact their availability.
As sadly has become an annual tradition in BBL, big-name imports will exit the comp in early January for the cashed-up UAE competition.
With the ILT20 starting on January 11, that’ll equate to those players being available for approximately 6-7 BBL games before they fly out.
The premature exits of players like James Vince and Laurie Evans were already known.
But a final round of ILT20 selections were made last week, inflicting further carnage on BBL clubs, with Melbourne Renegades’ wicketkeeper-bat Tim Seifert picked up by Sharjah Warriorz.
Stars all-rounder Tom Curran has also been signed by Gulf Giants. Both the Gades and Stars are expected to have early doubles, so Seifert and Curran will be popular.
When signed in June, the Stars had said: “Curran will be available for the entire BBL season plus finals.”
Sharjah also nabbed Aussies Ashton Agar, Daniel Sams, Peter Hatzoglou and Matthew Wade but expect them to see out their BBL contracts.
The Dubai Capitals picked up Hurricanes bat Shai Hope along with Joe Burns, while the Desert Vipers confirmed the signing of Sydney Thunder recruit Lockie Ferguson, which was expected anyway.
